At the end of a long week, people are opening wine bottles in bars, restaurants and homes around the world, ready to kick back and relax. This relationship with wine has a long history. The oldest known winery, dating to 4100 B.C., was discovered in 2010 by archaeologists in an Armenian cave. Just recently scientists reported finding jugs that had been used for storing wine from 6000 B.C. Wine was used in ceremonies by the Egyptians, traded by the Phoenicians and honored by the Greek god Dionysus and the Roman god Bacchus. By 2014, humanity was consuming more than 6 billion gallons of wine ...

Although polls show that the tax measure nearing the finish line in Congress is unpopular, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) predicted Sunday that it will ultimately prove a political winner. By next fall, he predicted, Americans will already be feeling the effects of the revisions in the tax code, a version of which passed the Senate early Saturday. The 51-49 vote broke almost entirely along party lines, with only one Republican, Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee, opposing it. “We think this will produce results, results we will certainly be able to talk to the American people abou...

North Korea is just one of many oppressive regimes that wrap themselves in the symbolism of democracy. The events of the last few years have focused new attention on widespread voter ignorance, partisan bias, unethical and misguided politicians, and other shortcomings of democracy. But some worry that airing the weaknesses of democracy provides ammunition for authoritarians, who can use such criticism to justify their own depredations. Georgetown political philosopher Jason Brennan, author of the important recent book Against Democracy (which I reviewed and criticized here), has an excellen...

KUWAIT CITY (AP) — Kuwait's parliament has approved a proposed draft law that aims to ends the bans on the country by FIFA and the International Olympic Committee. Lawmakers passed the bill in a special session Sunday. Minister of Youth and Sports Affair Khaled al-Roudan described the law as "an important step toward lifting the suspension off Kuwaiti sport" in a report carried by the state-run KUNA news agency. The bill must be approved by Kuwait's ruler, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah. In 2015, Kuwait was banned by international sports governing bodies FIFA and the IOC from participating ...

CHARLOTTE — Concentrate, for the moment, on what can’t be disputed, not after this 38-3 pasting Clemson laid on Miami on Saturday night. What we know about the College Football Playoff: Clemson has to be the favorite. Consider that status going forward, a month from now, and then think back to the past three seasons. Who does it better than the Tigers? Alabama? Yeah, well, maybe, but we don’t yet know if they’re in the dance. In personnel and preparation and execution and, now, downright swagger, we give you Clemson — defending national champions who don’t consider themselves that at all. “...

SANAA, Yemen (AP) — Yemen's rebel alliance appeared to completely unravel on Sunday, the fifth day of clashes in the capital, Sanaa, where the Shiite rebels are facing off with former president's fighters in deadly street fighting that has forced residents to hunker indoors. Clashes between fighters loyal to ex-President Ali Abdullah Saleh and the Iran-allied rebels known as Houthis first erupted last week. The two were allies in the war against a Saudi-led coalition seeking to restore Yemen's internationally recognized President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi to power and dislodge the rebel allia...

LONDON (AP) — The board of a commission set up to help improve the chances of Britain's poor has resigned, its chief said Sunday, accusing the government of being too preoccupied by Brexit to work for a fairer society. The news is a blow to Prime Minister Theresa May, who has promised to make tackling social injustice a priority for her Conservative government. On her first day in office in July 2016, May vowed to "do everything we can to help anybody, whatever your background, to go as far as your talents will take you." But since then much of the government's time and energy has been spen...

Welp. A funny thing happened when, early Sunday morning, engineers and explosives experts tried to bring down the old Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan with carefully planned explosions. In a giant raspberry directed at the experts, the place refused to budge. Although construction crews said the implosion did break off steel beams, the stadium was still standing when the dust cleared. That’s because, officials told Detroit’s WXYZ, the Silverdome was “built a little too well.” Here is the failed #Silverdome implosion from SkyFOX pic.twitter.com/6hD7PyTHIM — Sky Kerstein (@SkyKersteinFox2) Dece...

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) — The Palestinian president on Sunday warned that American recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital would jeopardize the White House's nascent Mideast peace efforts. President Mahmoud Abbas' comments came amid a diplomatic push by the Palestinian leader to rally international support against the possible American move later this week. "Any American step related to the recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel, or moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, represents a threat to the future of the peace process and is unacceptable for the Palestinians, Arabs and in...

No, tu, no, mettimi giù subito”“!
Nessuno sa leggerti?!?
Allora tieniti pure "i tuoi cari "analfabeti”“!!!😣😣😈

L'unico, vero disastro è all'interno del Partito democratico a matrice renziana.
