Conti correnti dormienti: cosa sono?

Un conto corrente si definisce dormiente se non ha registrato alcun movimento negli ultimi 10 anni e ha un saldo di almeno 100 euro. Una volta trascorso il periodo previsto, tutte le somme depositate in uno di questi conti vengono trasferite all’interno di un Fondo dedicato presso il ministero dell’Economia e delle Finanze, il quale lo utilizza per scopi socialmente utili.
Prima che avvenga il passaggio nel Fondo dedicato, la banca ha il dovere di informare il titolare del rapporto: dal momento in cui viene avvisato, il titolare ha sei mesi di tempo per “svegliare” il suo conto, in caso contrario avverrà il passaggio al fondo ministeriale e il risparmiatore ha altri 10 anni di tempo per richiedere il rimborso.
Cosa fare per riattivare il conto?
Basta svolgere qualsiasi tipo di operazione. Nello specifico, occorre comunicare alla banca di voler continuare il rapporto, ma si potrebbe anche comunicare un cambio di residenza o richiedere un libretto di assegni, l’aggiornamento contabile, il saldo del proprio conto oppure la copia di tutta la documentazione del conto. Il semplice accredito dello stipendio o della pensione o l’addebito delle utenze domestiche, continuano a far dormire il conto.

Come ottenere il rimborso?
Può richiedere il denaro che è già stato trasferito sul Fondo del ministero dell’Economia e delle Finanze il titolare di:
- Un deposito di denaro non sottoposto ad alcuna movimentazione per almeno 10 anni. In questo caso ci si riferisce a conti correnti, certificati di deposito oppure un libretto di risparmio;
- Strumenti finanziari che non vengono movimentati da 10 anni;
- Titolari di un assegno circolare che non si è incassato per tre anni;
- Rendite di una polizza assicurativa non movimentate per 2 anni;
- Buoni fruttiferi postali che non sono stati incassati entro 10 anni dalla scadenza e sono stati emessi dopo il 14 aprile 2001.
